Pawtucket is a city in Providence County, in the Providence-New Bedford metro area. It is the fourth largest city in the state covering a total area of 23.3 km² (9.0 mi²) of which 22.6 km² (8.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it (2.89%) is water.
The community derives its name from Algonquian for "river fall." Pawtucket is on the Blackstone River and Narragansett Bay and 37 miles South West of Boston, Massachusetts.
